Who We Are

Quaker Love Aviary is a small in home aviary located in Fort Wayne, IN. We no longer breed, but occasionally take on babies to raise with love for the soul purpose of becoming someone’s beloved family member. Although we primarily specialize in Quakers, we occasionally raise a variety of different species such as Green Cheek Conures, Blue Crowns, Peach Fronts, Black Caps, Nanday, Jenday, Caiques, Ringnecks, Alexandrine, and more. All of our available birds for adoption will be on the Available Babies Page.

Our birds are healthy, happy, and well socialized. We have them handled regularly by ourselves and friends children so they won’t be so much one person oriented and make great family pets or a companion for the elderly. As a bonus, most of them have learned a few words or phrases prior to leaving as we totally invest ourselves wholly into our babies during the season

What We Do

We specialize in many color mutations of Quaker Parrots. Mutation does not mean a hybrid in this case. We merely breed certain Quakers together that have a genetic color to make a certain color. The only difference between the wild green Quaker and the color mutations is slight variations in sizes, which with responsible breeding can be minimized.

Our pricing is by rarity of color with the normal green being the least costly. Although we raise high quality, healthy, and human friendly birds, we strive to keep our birds affordable and therefore are already on the lower end of the national pricing average. At this time, an untame normal green in stores will cost around $900-1300. Please do your research and keep that in mind before asking about discounts:)

Services

We usually do DNA testing to determine the gender of your bird prior to it going home with you. This is a small additional expense. It is NOT included with the price of your bird. If you have a specific preference of gender, be sure to request it prior to placing deposit to hold as we don’t take deposits until we are sure we have what you want as deposits are nonrefundable.

We also clip wings prior to going home. We do this because it takes birds a while to adjust to the stress and layout of a new home. We would rather cut down on the risk of injury during this time. Your baby will also bond with you better. What you decide to do when the feathers come back is entirely your decision as there are pros and cons to clipped and unclipped.

We stick with our customers to help them with any questions they may need some advice on via personal communication or our group as a tool with other bird owners.

Community

We offer a group and (private QLA Alumni chat group to Quaker and other parrot Owners for advice with problem behavior, diet education, Quaker habitat needs, training, and even just a place to boast about your baby.  It also serves as a connection with other Quaker owners and following your baby’s siblings:)

We host lots of activities, contests, and games for all to enjoy. Prizes are offered in most of these that will be mailed to you.

Exclusive QLA Bird Family Chat

What’s all that chirping about?
Us chick’s loooovvvee updates and watching the babies flourish in their forever homes. Every bird is different and we get to see the personalities and growth. Our flock chat group shares new things, and new comers can freely ask questions. Some funny videos may pop up. There is alot of activity in this group chat so that MUTE option is definetely needed as the chiming is never ending. It’s a good thing but we do need to get work in to get that $$ to spoil our babies.

Once you deposit on a bird with us, you will have the option to be added to this chat to get video & picture updates on your baby. You can meet siblings, get direct access to us and other knowledgeable bird owners. It’s a zero judgment zone!

Additional Information

🐣 All of our birds are cage and toy acclimated

🐣 Every baby is handled and spoke to on a daily basis

🐣We do have a waiting list for colors you can be put on. If you aren’t ready at that time, you will be moved to the bottom and next in line will be notified.

🐣We work with a trusted breeder to make more variety and quantity available for our customers.

🐣All of our babies will be trained to step up prior to going home.

🐣We do an initial wing clip prior to going home. This is for their safety entering a new environment.

🐣While we usually send home babies upon weaning, we do occasionally send them home on a comfort feeding.

  4. We just brought home our baby from Quaker Love. I couldn’t say enough good things about them. I haven’t owned birds in ages, and Alyssa has been wonderful answering all of my questions and keeping me updated on Queenie throughout the weening process. I have never met a bird as friendly as the ones at Quaker love. You can tell these babies are hand raised with love and compassion. If I can ever talk my husband into more birds, I will definitely be coming back!

  5. We highly recommend Quaker Love Aviary! Alyssa worked with me to help me choose the perfect baby for our family. Once he was chosen, we received regular updates including photos and video. Alyssa kept us updated on how he was doing and what milestones he had achieved along the way, from learning to perch to learning to fly and how he was doing during the weaning process. Our little guy is so sweet. He loves to cuddle, When he has flown high to perch, he comes when I call him. He is well socialized and gentle. We just love him! Thank you Alyssa for raising such a sweet baby.

  7. As a avid cat lover, I never saw myself having a bird as a pet.

However, my partner introduced me to QLA and I went with them to pick out a new baby as we are local, and one of the baby GCCs ran to me and wouldn’t let me put it down. My partner informed me that this baby had chosen me to be it’s caretaker and I had to quickly learn how to be a bird mother.

Luckily QLAs site has all of the information I needed, as well as links to purchase all of the essentials as well. I was able to visit with him while he was still on formula, and given updates. They answered any of my questions and helped me feel mentally ready.

I brought home my baby bird a week ago, after he was fully weaned, and the only problem I have now is wanting to bring home a second. 😆

  8. We have been wanting to get a Quaker to join our family for a few years. QLA were so easy to work with and contacted us when the perfect bird was available. Within a week we decided to get another for my son. The updates on their growth and training progress were amazing. We couldn’t wait to get them home. There is no other aviary that puts so much love and care into training and socializing their feathered babies. Our babies have truly been life changing. I have seen a young adolescent young man find peace and love , it brings such joy to my heart. Thank you for helping us to make our dreams come true! You guys are the best!!!!
